Emely Rodriguez is a Poet, Educator and Creator. She received her Bachelor’s in English from Towson University and holds an MFA in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore. Her work has been published in 45th Parallel, The Voices Project, Grub Street, and Welter.

“Gringa // Fragmented”

This piece is the cover of my book “Dreaming El Salvador” and was inspired by Fernando Llort’s work, specifically his use of collaging in mosaic styles. This type of work feels fragmented, almost how I feel as I yearn to be a part of my culture. This is truly a self portrait capturing this wish to belong much like the work in my book.
